RE: Notice of Intent to Submit an Application for the Federally Funded Grant,
21st Century Community Learning Centers, which supports out-of-school
time programming for school years 2024 - 2027
In accordance with the application instructions from North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, Cherokee County Schools submits a Public Notice to the community of Cherokee County NC of its intent to submit an application for a 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) After-School Programs Grant. Students in P-K through Grade 8 may be eligible to participate in the 21st CCLC After-School Program.
The purpose of the 21st CCLC Grant is to provide federal funds for eligible Title I schools to establish or expand community learning centers that operate during out-of-school time hours with three specific purposes:
- Improve academic achievement in core academic subjects such as reading and math
- Offer students a broad array of additional services, programs, and STEAM focused activities that are designed to reinforce and complement the regular academic program
- Offer families of students served by 21st CCLCs opportunities for active and meaningful engagement in their children’s education

Cherokee County Schools offer affordable childcare services for students. These programs are licensed by the NC Division of Child Development and provide a safe environment, nutritious snacks, homework help, outdoor play, and lots of fun for students.
Locations
MES and MCEMS Program Hours Regular school days from 2:15 to 5:30 pm
The program does not operate on teacher workdays, school holidays, and early release days. Cost $6.00 per day Payment policy and Subsidy Assistance information Registration

21st CCLC programs provide both academic enrichment and supplementary academic activities and resources to promote student academic success and growth within the school environment. The focus of the program is to incorporate activities and projects that reinforce and enhance a student's learning experience beyond the regular school day.
Locations
AES, AMS, HDEMS, MCEMS, MES, MMS, PES, and REMS
Program Hours Regular School Dsys: Monday through Friday from 3:00- 5:30 pm. The Cherokee County Schools' 21st CCLC Programs follow the CCS calendar.
Cost Free, no cost to parents or students that are eligible to participate in the program pending available space per school. Registration
Parents of eligible students must complete an application in order for their child to be considered for this program.
Registration is ongoing and eligible students are provided a registration form or added to a waiting list if space is limited at a specific site.
