Alternative Programs

Students interested in an alternative education program have two options here in Cherokee County.
Tri-county Early College
TCEC offers high school students a different kind of learning experience.  With a focus on problem-based learning, students are empowered to take charge of their education and pursue their interests.  Each semester, students focus on a subject of interest within a chosen theme, investigate areas of concern, and construct their own solutions.
Students at TCEC can also complete studies that allow them to graduate with both a high school diploma and an associates degree from Tri-County Community College.
The Oaks Academy
Students who prefer smaller class sizes, more personal attention or who have issues with behavior or attendance can find additional support at The Oaks Academy, the district's alternative school.  Also located at the Oaks is one of the district's outdoor education sites.  The trail includes a stand of native rivercane, streams, springs, wooded areas, a small amphitheater, picnic tables all for use by the community.
