Out-of-District Information

Students are expected to attend the school in which they are assigned by virtue of their parents’ or legal guardians’ residence. Students should enroll in the county school of appropriate grade within the attendance area for the child of prescribed by the Cherokee County Board of Education.
The Cherokee County Board of Education has adopted the North Carolina Department of Public Standards for class size. Therefore, principals may accept out-of-district/out-of-county students if DPI standards and priorities for student acceptance into the school are met.
Applications for Out-of-District students must be made yearly by parents or guardians and must be approved by the principal of the school the student wishes to attend.  Applications will be considered by principals only ten (10) school days based upon the Spring and Fall Registration periods.
