Minimum Requirements
High School diploma, two to four-year degree preferred
Effective Teacher Training certificate

Apply
An application must be completely filled out, which includes:
- A physical
- Withholding information including a canceled check/or voided deposit slip
- Local address and driver’s license number
- Two recommendations, preferably affiliated with the Cherokee County school system
- Three references from previous employers (attach to application)
- An I-9 must be completed including photocopies of the social security card and driver’s license or certificate of birth
- A criminal record check permission form must be completed.
Process
A brief interview is conducted and references are checked before the application is presented to the Board of Education for approval. The Board of Education approves substitutes four (4) times during the year: August, October, January and April. The Board meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month, and the application/interview process must be completed by one week prior to the board meeting date.
Compensation
Non-certified personnel – $81 per day
Certified personnel – $103 per day
