Pre-K

Cherokee County Schools offers learning opportunities for our youngest minds.

Cherokee County Schools operates 8 Pre-K classrooms, serving all of our elementary schools. Each of our Pre-K classrooms is 5-star rated! Every classroom is led by a highly-qualified North Carolina licensed teacher.  Classroom teaching assistants hold A.A. degrees in Early Childhood Education or B-K teaching license and some are pursuing degrees in higher education.

Each of our classrooms is licensed to serve 18 students between the ages of 4-5 years old. In addition to highly-qualified staff, our classrooms are regulated and monitored by the North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education (NCDCDEE), NCPK, through our contractor, Region A Partnership for Children, Title 1, and the Cherokee County Health Department. All of our centers complete an ECERS rating scale evaluation every three years. Our classrooms, sanitation practices, interactions with children, food service, and curriculum offerings are all monitored by this group of agencies.

All of our Pre-K classrooms consistently score above the average range on these quality inspections! Our Pre-K Director constantly strives to help schools provide your child with the highest quality materials, experiences, and developmentally appropriate education available!

The mission of Cherokee County Schools Pre-K Program is to cooperate with families, the community and early childhood agencies to provide a safe, high quality, age and developmentally appropriate early childhood education, which meets the diverse learning needs of our children and helps to prepare them for a lifetime of learning within Cherokee County Schools.
