Internships for 11th and 12th graders
Students in the 11th or 12th grade are eligible to apply for a select number of competitive internships. (Job descriptions for all internships are attached.) These internships will be available during the spring semester. Students will earn high school credit for participation and completion of program requirements. Interested students are encouraged to see their guidance counselor or Lead Career Technical Education Teacher for more information and to obtain a hard copy of the attached Internship Handbook. -Murphy Medical Center – Dietary
-Hiwassee Dam Cafeteria – Dietary
-Murphy Chamber of Commerce – Social Media
-Trimble Kelly Studios – Interior Design
-Snap-On Tools – Pre-Engineering $8/hr
-Employment Security Commission - Employment Consultant
-Peachtree Veterinary Clinic – Veterinary Assistant
-Cherokee County Schools – Information Technology
-Cherokee County Schools – Finance/Office Systems
-Pharmacy Technician Certification
There are nine slots for Cherokee County high school seniors wishing to complete a course in Pharmacy Technician Certification. The course will be presented in an online format with the Health Occupations Teacher facilitating the course and assigning the grade. Interested students should see the Health Occupations Teacher for further information and eligibility requirements. These teachers are: Lynn Barry-Toth, Carolyn Crosby, and Barbara Haydon. Eligibility requirements are:
-Senior and turn 18 before/during summer 2011
-3.5 GPA or higher
-Have successfully completed at least one online course
-Must pay $129 fee for certification test, but will be refunded upon completion of test during the summer of 2011
